# Stay total

**Stay total:** The headline price a booking quote shows for a whole stay, after any discount for a longer stay and before taxes.

## How we measure it

It comes from the same forward quote as the nightly rate, with the number of nights the quote covers recorded beside it.

## What it is not

It is not the nightly rate multiplied by the nights: stay discounts and minimum stays change it.

## Where it appears in the data

Field names as the API returns them; each dataset's page in the API lists the field's type and unit.
